Riding Programs for Ages 5-7

Just Horsin’ Around Series
Beginning 5-7 year old riders will learn the basics of safety, grooming, saddling, and riding techniques while working one-on-one with their own pony. The goal of this class is to assist your child rider in developing equestrian skills with more individualized instruction. Riders who have mastered grooming, correct riding posture, reining an obstacle course off-lead, and performing a correct sitting trot will proceed to Buckaroo level with instructor approval. Students must be currently enrolled or a graduate of kindergarten.
Buckaroo
While working one-on-one with his/her own pony, your more experienced beginner rider aged 5-7 will learn to retain correct riding technique while developing increased independence on and off the pony. The goal of this class is to assist your rider to develop equestrian skills at an accelerated rate with more individualized instruction. Riders will advance to the Bronc level when they have mastered independent grooming, saddling, and reining off-lead, as well as a correct posting trot with assistance. Buckaroo prerequisite: instructor approval or completion of JHA Intro. Students must be currently enrolled or a kindergarten graduate.
Bronc
This beginning intermediate class is for riders ages 5-7 who have mastered basic horsemanship skills. The goal of this class is for your rider to learn problem solving skills while riding their own pony and working toward independence. Skills include trotting off-lead and advanced reining drills. Bronc prerequisite: instructor approval or completion of JHA Buckaroo. Students must be currently enrolled or a kindergarten graduate.
